Oliver Goater

After graduating from Brighton University, Oliver took time out to travel extensively before taking up a position at a prestigious International Insurance & Re-Insurance Lloyd's brokerage in London.

Oliver moved back to Guernsey in 2008 to work for the Network Group heading up business development and strategic positioning. Since then, Oliver has proved himself an able leader and become Managing Director of the Group.

As well as the day to day operation of the company, Oliver uses his skill set from London to specialise in tailoring bespoke commercial policies for corporate clients, dealing with everything from standard liabilities to multi-layer Professional Indemnity and Director & Officer Liability Insurances.


Douglas

Douglas initially trained as a chef in the UK and Switzerland. He worked in several places including The Savoy and the kitchens of Windsor Castle where he cooked for the Queen. Douglas moved to Guernsey in 1975 and worked for the family business, eventually running his own restaurant.  In 1991, Douglas decided he would like a career change and began his Insurance career.  Douglas worked at Islands Insurance for 16 years as Business Development Manager, learning the world of insurance.

Douglas and his wife June purchased Network in June 2006. Since they took over Network, it has grown and developed from a small company of 6, to one of the largest brokers in Guernsey.

Douglas handed the reigns of the company over to his son, Oliver, in June 2012 and he is now concentrating on Customer Relations and Commercial Broking - as well as improving his golf handicap when he gets the chance.

June is a Guernsey girl born and bred.

June initially trained as a Personal Assistant and worked for a number of local companies during her career. After marrying Douglas in 1977, she turned her organisational skills to helping to run various hotels that Douglas was managing, and eventually their own restaurant on the West Coast of Guernsey.

June's excellent organisational skills are now put to good use as she acts as Office Manager and HR Director to ensure the office runs smoothly. June also ran a well-known recruitment agency for several years before joining the company so she is well placed to run the HR Department.

June enjoys travelling, reading and loves animals.


Keith Read

Keith Read

Keith's career started in food retail in the UK, where he was a Board Member and Shareholder of Westward Food Distributor's Ltd, employing and managing 300 personnel.

In 1979, Keith moved to Guernsey, and purchased and operated several businesses in hospitality and catering on the island.  He sold the businesses in 2008 and now acts on a consultancy basis to various businesses on the island.

Keith joined the Network Board in 2007 and his abundance of wisdom and experience has made him a highly valued member of the team.


Duncan Spence

Duncan Spence

Non-Executive Director

Duncan has many years management experience in a wide range of businesses and has been a director of numerous companies in different jurisdictions since 1968.

Duncan invested into and started up several successful internet businesses, including Moonpig.com and Babyworld.com and his management experience spans several sectors, including property, media and communication (not to mention insurance).

Currently, he has business and property interests and investments in the UK, Channel Islands, Grand Cayman, Hong Kong and China, France, Portugal, Mozambique, the USA and South Africa where he owns amongst other things Rickety Bridge Winery.

Duncan was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Network in 2009 and since then has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the (Board room) table.

Rebecca Goater MA Cantab DipPFS TEP

Director and Financial Adviser

Rebecca moved to Guernsey in 2009 after graduating from Cambridge University where she read Land Economy (Law, Economics and Environment).  Rebecca began her post-university career in the Trust Industry, and qualified as a Trust Administrator, taking the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management, which she passed with Distinction in 2011.

After officially joining the Goater family, Rebecca went on to join the family business, initially specialising as a Private Medical Insurance Adviser, before being appointed as an Independent Financial Adviser. 

Rebecca is fully qualified in line with the new Guernsey Financial Advice Standards, having completed the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in October 2014. 

After joining the executive board in January 2015, Rebecca now manages the Financial Planning Department, as well as assisting with the strategic operations of the company.

Phil Baldock

After graduating from the University of Bath with a BA (Hons) in Coach Education and Sports Development, Phil worked as a sports coach within schools and the community, as well as working in the charity sector.

Phil and his wife, Rosy, then ventured to Australia, where they lived and studied in Sydney for 2 years.

After returning to the Northern Hemisphere in 2010, Phil and his family settled in Guernsey and have been on the island ever since.

Phil began his insurance career at Insurance Corporation, working as an underwriter and dealing with a range of policy classes for both personal and commercial clients.

In February 2014, Phil joined Network as a Commerical Broker and brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. He is a key member of staff and his underwriting experience further enhances Network's understanding of the insurance products available.


Andrew Murray-Boscher

After graduating from Southampton Solent University with a BA (Hons) in Digital Music Production, Andrew worked as a sound engineer and teaching assisnt at Point Blank Music College in London.

On his return to the Island, Andrew decided to move his career into the Financial Sector, and joined Rossborough Insurance Limited as a Commercial Insurance Broker.

Joining Network in June 2016, Andrew has brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and is now a key member of the Network team.

Andrew is currently studying towards the Chartered Institute of Insurance Certificate in Insurance, which he hopes to achieve as soon as possible.

Andrew's passion outside of work is music, and he has been an avid disc jockey since he moved to London.  Andrew is part of Guernsey's event brand 'Elevate Management' and spends his free time performing at events around the island.

Alexis

Alexis Goater Cert CII

After attaining her A-Levels at Guernsey Grammer School, Alexis moved to the UK to complete an Art Foundation Course. She then continued her further education at the University of Essex, where she obtained a degree in Contemporary Theatre.

Alexis temped for Network intermittently from 2006, gaining experience by working in a number of departments. She became a permanent member of the team in 2009 after returning to the Island and she is now our Personal Lines Supervisor.

Alexis is now qualified after completing the Chartered Institute of Insurance Certificate in May 2013.

Alexis enjoys amateur dramatics and has performed in several productions in Guernsey.


Briony Smallman

After completing her A Levels, Briony continued her education at the University of Warwick, where she studied Biological Sciences with Molecular Genetics, and will obtain her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2016.

Briony moved to Guernsey in 2015, and joined Network Insurance as a Personal Lines Broker in October.  She is now a key member of the Network team.

Briony obtained the Chartered Institute of Insurance Certificate in Insurance in 2016, and she plans to continue studying to obtain the Diploma.

When she isn't working or studying, Briony enjoys trampolining!


Wendy

Wendy Le Tissier

Wendy began her career in Insurance in 1976 working for Morris Hunter. She is now Network's longest serving member of staff and brings a great deal of experience to the role.

Wendy now runs our Renewals Department and is well known by a large number of clients who she has helped over the years.

Wendy enjoys the outdoors in Guernsey (at least in Spring and Summer), and spends a lot of time out on her family boat, or on coastal walks.


Polly Burke

After completing her A-Levels, Polly moved to Guernsey from Alderney and commenced work at the Old Government House Hotel, part of the Red Carnation Group.

In 2015, she moved on to work for their sister company, Insight Vacations, where she worked as a Personal Travel Manager. 

Polly joined Network in November 2017 as a trainee Personal Lines Broker and immediately fitted into the Network team.  Polly is working towards obtaining the CII Certificate in Insurance and is hoping to obtain this as quickly as she can.

When she isn't working or studying, Polly enjoys socialising and sampling the amazing restaurants we have here in Guernsey!

Andrew M

Andrew McInerney

After leaving school, Andrew pursued a career in Finance for 8 years, and obtained his Trust and Company qualifications, before setting off to travel to Australia.

Andrew spent 7 years in Australia, and it was here that he entered the insurance industry, gaining experience in various aspects of insurance, including insurance broking and handling claims.

Andrew returned to Guernsey in 2014 and worked as a Claims Handler for another brokerage, gaining valuable local experience, before joining Network in September 2015.

Andrew has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Network team, using his experience from the sector, both on and off island.

In his freetime, Andrew enjoys football and music.

Jason Kon

After graduating from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh with a Masters in Accountancy and Finance, Jason went on to work for KPMG in Malaysia before returning to the UK to work for a technology company in edinburgh as a Business Development Executive for the EMEA region.

Jason moved to Guernsey in 2016 and decided to rejoin the Financial Services industry, joining Network Financial Planning in 2017 as a Trainee Financial Adviser.  Jason is currently studying towards the Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Regulated Planning and is intent on becoming a fully qualified Financial Adviser as soon as possible.

When he isn't working or studying, Jason is a keen cyclist and runner, and has recently started competing in Triathalons.


Geoff

Geoff began his career in insurance in April 1982, working for the Royal Liver Friendly Society, as an agent initially and then as a Life Inspector.  He then moved to Lloyds Bank in Guernsey to work as an Independent Financial Adviser.

In 2008, Geoff joined Network, bringing with him a wealth of experience, after retiring in 2016, Geoff now acts as an introducer for Network.

Geoff is a keen golfer, having played since he was 13 and his handicap is now 6.  He has represented Guernsey in the Senior Inter Insular since 2010.

 


Accounts Team

Scott

Scott Marley

Accounts Manager

Scott was born and educated in Guernsey, but moved off the island to explore Europe, before settling in London for three years.

He moved back to Guernsey in Spring of 2011, and joined Network as our Accounts Administrator in 2014.

Scott has 23 years of experience of working in the finance industry, and brings with him a wealth of experience, across various sectors.

Scott is currently taking some further accounting examinations, which keep him rather busy outside of work.


Melaine

Melanie Douglas BA AAT

After graduating from Napier University in Edinburgh with a BA in Accounting, Melanie worked for various accounting firms in Scotland before becoming AAT qualified in 1998.

Melanie went on to work for Grant Thornton and Grant Thornton International as an in-house accountant in London and then in 2007, Melanie moved to Guernsey to become the Financial Controller for a local hotel group.

Melanie joined Network in June 2013 as the Financial Controller, a new role for the company. Melanie has used her wealth of experience to review and develop the systems and procedures.

In her freetime, Melanie enjoys reading, travelling and fine dining.
